FAQs

What type of pets do you photograph?

While I primarily have photographed horses and dogs, I am open to other pets, all the furry friends are equally as precious. Dog photoshoots are on a leash and I will edit the leash out of your photographs, unless the photos are in an allowed secluded space, for example your home property.

Members of my family don’t like being photographed, what do you recommend?

If you are worried about your family members participating, I do my best to make everyone, including them, feel at ease and in their element! Tell them that they won’t be posing and looking directly at the camera the entire session, but instead playing with and loving one another. Family members usually tell me they enjoy my sessions, even when they had reservations going in. And if breaks are needed, we can always make that work.

What happens if one of us is sick?

We’ll reschedule if you guys are sick, and we’ll also reschedule if I’m sick! Given we’re living in the wake of a global pandemic, it is more important than ever to reschedule in the event of illness – however mild the symptoms are.

Can we invite grandparents to the session?

I love it when grandparents join! Both kids and grandparents light up in the presence of each other, and capturing these moments is priceless. I just ask that grandparents are styled in advance along with your family, and come ready to interact and play. There is no extra fee to add 1-2 extended family members to your session. If you are having a reunion with more family members, pricing for an extended family session would be different.

What should i wear? do you help with styling?

What you wear plays a hugely important role in how your photos will look and how I will edit your session for a given location and light. I share my guidelines once you book of what photographs well, give color scheme suggestions specific to your taste and your location, suggest my favorite retailers for photoshoots. I often also pick out specific pieces for each family member to wear. Most clients end up purchasing new clothing to mix with some of their existing pieces. A good place to start is to look at my portfolio to give you an idea of my recommended colour schemes.

Do you take any photos directly looking at the camera?

While my passion lies in creating storytelling and lifestyle images, I always make it a point during the session to get a great photo of the family happily looking at the camera because I believe that you need an image like this in your gallery. Typically we do this shot first before we move into the rest of the session. However if you expect to have multiple combinations of people all statically looking at the camera, I am not the right photographer for your needs. I do love to catch kids’ eyes and smiles throughout the session, so you will see a lot of those in your gallery!

What should i expect in a session with you?

Expect to have fun with one another! Expect to laugh, cuddle, kiss, play with one another! Forget about telling your kids to behave themselves and cooperate, forget about trying to force them to stay still and look at the camera! Let them explore, play and be silly – embrace the chaos and the crazy WITH THEM and let's capture moments that you will look back on that will make you smile, laugh and cry! During the session, I might guide you into different positions, ask you to cuddle into one another or move you into spots where the light is the best – but that is about the extent of my involvement in directing you.
